IT LIKES TO BE WATCHED is a free browser horror game made by Vincent Borgers. The game jokes about watching you. This page explains, without jokes, what we actually collect and why.
Playing as a guest. You can play the full game without an account. Your progress is stored only in your own browser (localStorage). It never leaves your device.
Accounts. If you choose to create an account we store your email address, your chosen operator name, a securely hashed password (scrypt, never readable by us) and your game progress (unlocked nights and endings). We use your email only to verify your account, to let you reset your password, and for occasional messages about the game. We do not sell or share your email address.
Gameplay statistics. The game reports anonymous events to our server: a visit, a night started, a death, an ending reached. With each event we store a one-way hash of your IP address (the address itself is never stored) and, once per unique visitor, the country your IP resolves to. This tells us how many people play and where from. It cannot be traced back to you.
Cookies. We use one functional cookie to keep you logged in to your account. It is not used for tracking. If advertising is enabled on this site, Google AdSense may place advertising cookies; in the European Union you will first be asked for consent through Google's certified consent banner, and you can refuse.
The game displays your local clock time, screen resolution and battery level as part of its horror effects. These values are read by your own browser and shown only to you. They are not sent to our server.
Email (verification codes, notifications) is delivered through Resend (resend.com). Advertising, when enabled, is provided by Google AdSense. We use no other third-party services and no third-party analytics trackers.
You can delete your account and all data attached to it at any time by emailing info@itlikestobewatched.com. Under the GDPR you can also request a copy of the data we hold about you. We respond within a few days.
